Key Questions Answered
Under the new rules starting October 2, 2026, the validity of exempted FASTags for persons with disabilities is determined by their disability percentage. Beneficiaries with 70% to 100% disability receive a 5-year validity, while those with 40% to less than 70% disability get a 3-year validity.
The disability percentage is determined based on information recorded in a valid disability certificate, a Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID card), or other applicable documents.
Once the 3 or 5-year validity expires, the FASTag must be renewed. To renew it, the beneficiary must still be eligible, possess valid disability documents, and meet all applicable conditions including the National Highways Fee Rules, 2008.
