Key Questions Answered
Under the new rules, the validity of the exemption FASTag depends on the percentage of disability. For individuals with 70 to 100 percent disability, the FASTag is valid for 5 years. For those with more than 40 percent and less than 70 percent disability, it is valid for 3 years.
To qualify for the toll exemption, the applicant must possess a government-recognized disability certificate (or a valid UDID card). Additionally, the vehicle must be registered in the name of the person with disability or specially registered for their use, and the special FASTag must be affixed to that specific vehicle.
Eligible persons with disabilities can apply for the long-term FASTag online or offline through the official free FASTag portal of NHAI or the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Applicants are required to submit a valid UDID card and vehicle-related documents.
