Key Questions Answered
An Exempted FASTag is a special, free RFID sticker issued for vehicles exempted from paying toll tax on national highways. Although these vehicles do not pay charges at toll plazas, applying the official FASTag on the car windshield is mandatory to easily identify them and maintain smooth traffic.
Under the new guidelines, Exempted FASTags no longer require annual renewal. Instead, their validity is determined by the individual's percentage of disability, lasting for 5 years for those with a disability between 70% and 100%, and 3 years for those with a disability between 40% and less than 70%.
Exempted FASTags are issued based on valid documentation proving eligibility, such as a valid disability certificate, a Unique Disability Identity (UDID) card, or other official documents stating the percentage of disability. Beneficiaries must also ensure their vehicle complies with the conditions laid down under the National Highways Fee Rules, 2008.
