Under the updated rules taking effect on October 2, 2026, the annual renewal requirement for Exempted FASTags has been eliminated. For individuals with 70% to 100% disability, the FASTag is valid for 5 years, while those with 40% to less than 70% disability receive a 3-year validity.

The government has launched a new facility called OneTag, which allows users to port their FASTag from one bank to another without needing to purchase a new FASTag when changing their linked bank account.

Exempted FASTags are issued for vehicles specially designed and manufactured for persons with physical disabilities, as well as vehicles owned by 'Divyangjan', determined by the percentage of disability verified through a valid Disability Certificate, UDID Card, or other applicable documents.
