Key Questions Answered

If homemade curd is immediately covered and placed in the refrigerator, it generally remains safe to consume for about 5 to 7 days. However, its best taste and nutritional properties are maintained during the first 3 to 4 days before it gradually becomes more sour.

You can determine that curd is no longer safe to eat if you notice visible mold, an unusual color, a strong or strange odor, or an abnormal change in its texture. Simply becoming watery or resembling buttermilk does not automatically mean it has spoiled if the smell and normal appearance remain fine.

Always store curd in a tightly sealed container to prevent it from absorbing external odors. Use a clean, dry spoon every time, and never put remaining curd back into the container once it has been scooped out into a bowl, as this introduces outside bacteria that cause faster spoilage.
