Key Questions Answered
To make masoor dal dosa, you need 1 cup of whole red masoor or washed masoor dal, half a cup of rice, 1 inch of ginger, 1 to 2 green chillies, 1 small spoon of cumin, a pinch of asafoetida, salt to taste, oil or ghee, and water.
Wash the masoor dal and rice, then soak them in sufficient water for 3 to 4 hours. Drain the excess water, place them in a mixer jar with ginger, green chilli, cumin, and asafoetida, and grind finely by adding water gradually. Mix in salt and whisk the batter well for 1 to 2 minutes.
Heat a non-stick or iron tawa, wipe it clean with water, and pour a large spoonful of batter in the middle, spreading it thinly outwards in a circle. Add oil or ghee to the edges and middle, and cook slowly on medium flame until the bottom turns golden and edges separate.
