Key Questions Answered

The administration declared the entire city a disaster area on Saturday because heavy rain continued for three consecutive days since Thursday afternoon, submerging roads, shops, and houses across all 50 districts. Approximately 300 millimeters of rainfall was recorded, with water levels reaching knee to waist height in many areas.

The primary cause of the floods is continuous rainfall that filled the city's major canals completely, leaving no space to drain water. Consequently, water from roads and drains is flowing back into the city instead of exiting through the full canals, alongside additional water arriving from Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani.

As of Saturday, more than 84,000 people across 21 provinces nationwide were affected by the severe flooding, with heavy impacts felt particularly in the central region.
