While the older biometric lock only controlled fingerprints, iris scans, or OTPs while leaving the main number open, the new update completely locks the entire Aadhaar number. Any verification attempt using a locked number immediately returns an error.
When your Aadhaar number is locked, you can use a 16-digit Virtual ID (VID) to complete important work without any hindrance. This secure VID allows you to finish digital tasks safely without exposing or tracking your main Aadhaar number.
Open the official mAadhaar app, log in with your PIN, and tap the Security option at the bottom of the home page. Select Aadhaar Lock, accept the conditions, enter your Virtual ID, and complete the process using an OTP and Face Authentication.
