Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered an official inquiry after the Forest Development Corporation demolished the homes of 12 tribal families in Kosmi village, Sehore district. The demolition and filling of a village well drew sharp criticism from Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who visited the affected families and raised concerns over the action.
The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes took cognizance of the demolition incident and issued a formal notice to the Madhya Pradesh Government. The commission demanded a response within three days from key state officials, including the Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary of the Forest Department, and the Collector and Superintendent of Police of Sehore.
According to reports, the land in question was allotted to the State Forest Development Corporation and originally used for plantations. After some tribal families allegedly damaged the plantation and started farming on the land in 2022, notices were issued to them, which subsequently led to the removal of their houses.
