Delhi's Traffic Planning Agency (UTTIPEC) has approved a 5.5-kilometer long, 6-lane elevated corridor between Outer Ring Road and Mehrauli-Badarpur (MB) Road. This project will bypass 12 heavily trafficked intersections and eliminate red lights, making the entire route signal-free to reduce peak hour jams on Maa Anandmayi Marg.
To eliminate traffic jams at the Crown Plaza intersection on Okhla Estate Marg, a separate underpass and roundabout will be constructed. This will shift heavy and long traffic upwards, creating safe paths on the roads below for pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles.
The master plan to clear Mukarba Chowk involves widening the old 6-lane Road Over Bridge on the Outer Ring Road to 10 lanes. Additionally, a brand new 4-lane ROB will be built over the Delhi-Sonipat railway line to directly connect Jahangirpuri Industrial Area to Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, diverting about 20% of the traffic.
