Key Questions Answered
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved a proposal to convert the 121-kilometer-long highway from four lanes to six lanes to ease traffic pressure and reduce congestion. Additionally, the project includes building 242 kilometers of service roads, 14 railway overbridges, 14 major bridges, 32 minor bridges, 55 culverts for light vehicles, and six interchanges.
Once the highway is expanded to six lanes, two-wheelers will be prohibited from using the main highway and will be required to use the designated service roads instead.
Following the approval of the highway alignment, the land acquisition process will begin under Section 3-A of the Land Acquisition Act. Landowners will be invited to submit objections regarding the declared land plots, and construction work will advance after resolving these objections and distributing compensation.
