The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched a special campaign during Navratri and raided six establishments across Pune and Sangli districts, seizing adulterated sweets, fasting bhagar, sabudana, chakli, and banana wafers worth Rs. 4,46,000.
FDA raided Ashish Foods in Bibvewadi seizing 210 kg of banana wafers, Reddy Sweet House for 75.6 kg of chakli, and Sameer Sales in Market Yard resulting in the seizure of 1,298 kg of bhagar and 2,998 kg of sabudana.
The stocks were seized because inspections revealed excessive use of hazardous food colors, substandard ingredients, and blatant violations of labeling regulations, prompting officials to send samples to a laboratory for testing.
