Saudi Arabia's national automotive company, Ceer, launched its first electric vehicles, the Exobot sedan and SUV, on Monday at the Ceer Manufacturing Complex in King Abdullah Economic City. The standard Exobot features a tri-motor, all-wheel-drive setup producing 850hp, with the sedan accelerating from 0-100kph in 2.6 seconds and achieving a 670km range, while the SUV takes 2.9 seconds with a 560km range. Top-spec models produce up to 1,111hp and 1,500Nm of torque.
Ceer is a joint venture formed in 2022 between Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and Taiwan's Foxconn, serving as the kingdom's first vehicle brand. The initiative supports Saudi Vision 2030's goal to build a local auto industry and reduce oil dependence. By 2034, Ceer is projected to add $8 billion to Saudi Arabia's GDP and $21 billion to its trade balance while targeting 45% local content.
Sales for Ceer vehicles in Saudi Arabia are scheduled to start in early 2027. To combat extreme heat, the Exobot features a 2.4-metre windscreen set at a 15-degree angle using laminated glass with a reflective coating to block solar heat. Combined with dual front-and-rear air conditioning, this design can drop cabin temperatures from 65°C to 32°C within 10 minutes.
