Key Questions Answered

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued red to yellow alerts for heavy rainfall, lightning, and storms across 15 major states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and West Bengal.

The nationwide weather instability is being driven by a strong well-marked low-pressure system over central Uttar Pradesh, a developing cyclone moving from the Myanmar coast across the Bay of Bengal, and an active Western Disturbance over North India.

Uttarakhand faces heavy rainfall alongside landslide warnings in vulnerable cities like Dehradun and Nainital, while Kerala is experiencing heavy rainfall and coastal winds, prompting authorities to advise fishermen against venturing into the sea.
