Subhrangshu Roy has met with the state's Chief Minister twice to seek help. The state government assured him that regular communication is being maintained with Nepal authorities via the Ministry of External Affairs, and Subhrangshu is also preparing to approach Prime Minister Narendra Modi for central intervention.

Sharmistha travelled with a tourism agency on a pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar, obtaining a Chinese visa via Nepal. According to Subhrangshu, she was scheduled to head toward the Chinese border on August 26 and he believes she reached safety before flash floods struck.
