Following the viral video of celebratory firing during a midnight birthday party in the Newtown area under Hirapur police station, the Asansol Durgapur Police launched an investigation and detained the accused youth for interrogation.
A group of young men stopped a car on a deserted road in the middle of the night, placed a large cake on the bonnet, and celebrated. After cutting the cake, a young man in a white shirt and black trousers pulled out a pistol, fired in the air, and handed it to his friend who also fired shots.
Police initially suspect that the firearm featured in the viral video might be a toy gun rather than a real weapon, though confirmation will only come after recovering the firearm from the detained youth.
