The Samajwadi Party changed its candidates for two important seats, replacing Shashank Yadav with Dr. Akash Agarwal for the Agra Division Graduate seat and Kamlesh Yadav with Dr. Sanjayan Tripathi for the Gorakhpur-Faizabad Division Teacher seat.
Dr. Sanjayan Tripathi originally sought a ticket from the BJP, but when the party chose current MLC Dhruv Kumar Tripathi instead, an angered Sanjayan revolted and filed his nomination as an independent. Seizing this strategic opportunity, the Samajwadi Party extended its support and symbol to make him their official candidate.
Voting for the 11 MLC seats in Uttar Pradesh is scheduled for October 23, while the election results will be declared following vote counting on October 27.
