Key Questions Answered
After completing his master's degree in international business at SKEMA Business School in Paris and receiving job offers there, Prithviraj decided against a corporate career abroad. He chose to return to Bengaluru and utilize his family's old, unused poultry shed in Devanahalli for oyster mushroom farming, inspired by an idea he was introduced to back in 2019.
Prithviraj spent around Rs 2 lakh on modifications to turn the unused poultry shed into a farm, beginning with 10 mushroom bags using free paddy straw and 2 kg of oyster mushroom spawn costing Rs 180.
The farm has expanded to nearly 4,000 bags at different stages of production, yielding around 1,350 kg of mushrooms every month. Selling at about Rs 320 per kg, the operation generates nearly Rs 4 lakh in monthly revenue through buyers like local markets, supermarkets, and Zepto.
