Key Questions Answered
While KMF and various milk unions requested an increase of 8 to 10 rupees per litre, the government is considering raising prices by at least 4 to 6 rupees per litre.
The demand is driven by a rise in milk production costs, expensive cattle feed, maintenance and veterinary expenses, fodder shortages, and higher transportation and distribution costs.
The Hotel Association wrote a letter to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar appealing to limit the price revision to 2 or 3 rupees, warning that a massive hike would force businesses to raise prices for tea, coffee, and other products.
