Located on the Debari hill in Udaipur, the Ghata Wali Mataji temple is a major Shaktipeeth of Mewar. According to local belief, when Mewar faced a foreign invasion, Deora Rajput chieftains sought shelter at the Goddess's court. Legend states that thousands of large black bees emerged from the Goddess's navel, attacking the Mughal army and forcing them to retreat all the way to Nahar Mangra.

During the construction of the Udaipur-Chittorgarh National Highway in the 1990s, the road route was planned to pass through the temple site. When excavating machines reached the area, they suffered severe technical faults, and workers reportedly witnessed various forms of the Goddess. Consequently, the administration and construction company diverted the road by cutting through the hill to keep the temple intact.

The temple features a massive 35-foot-high trident installed on the hill that attracts travelers from afar. During Shardiya Navratri, special religious rituals, bhajans, and kirtans are organized, drawing lakhs of devotees. Additionally, a grand marquee and a rest house have been built within the premises to accommodate visitors.
