Key Questions Answered
The snake found inside the shoe belonged to the Dhaman, or rat snake, species. Rescuer Vivek Jaiswal confirmed that this particular species is not venomous.
Dhaman snakes are nocturnal, meaning they are more active at night and tend to hide in safe, secluded places during the day. Closed items like shoes provide an ideal hidden shelter to avoid heat and danger.
Rescue teams advise people to thoroughly check items or shoes left outside before wearing them. If a snake is discovered, individuals should never attempt to catch or remove it themselves, and instead immediately contact a trained rescue team.
