Key Questions Answered

Between January and August, the bus involved in the accident received eight to ten challans totaling a fine of ₹64,400. These included a ₹6,900 challan issued on April 7 as well as a penalty for operating without a proper permit.

Police registered a case against the driver and conductor under four sections of the Indian Penal Code: section 281 for negligent driving, section 125 for endangering life or personal safety, section 105 for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and section 351(3) for criminal intimidation.

Authorities are struggling to identify the deceased and injured because many passengers were not booked through the online ticketing system and were instead picked up mid-route.
