Key Questions Answered

Following its CWC meeting, the Congress party put forward four demands: that CEC Gyanesh Kumar should resign immediately, the SIR process should be stopped, 13 crore 30 lakh removed voter names should be re-added, and PM Modi should resign due to alleged vote manipulation.

Rahul Gandhi claimed vote theft after discovering that out of 728 residents in the Bela Estate slum, only one name remained on the voter list following the SIR process while 727 names were deleted. The Election Commission responded that these deletions occurred because houses were demolished and agricultural activities stopped, noting that special camps were organized to re-add eligible voters via Form 6 applications.

The Supreme Court agreed to hear a petition filed against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, scheduling the matter for the following week after an order by the CJI for its listing. The petition demands the cancellation of decisions made without the consent of both election commissioners, the formation of an SIT for investigation, and criminal proceedings against Gyanesh Kumar.
