The traditional folk sport Kambala is scheduled to be held grandly in Mysuru on October 18 and 19 as part of the state Dasara festival. This historic event features a specially constructed slush-filled track located near the VTU Regional Center on the Satagalli ring road area in Mysuru.

Before departing for Mysuru, special prayers and pujas were offered for the Kambala buffaloes at the historically famous Mahalingeshwara Temple in Puttur. A herd of buffaloes then left the district by road, with welcoming arrangements and rest stops organized along the route including in Madikeri.

This historic event was organized through the special initiative of Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai, following the unprecedented public response previously received for a Kambala event held in Bengaluru. The effort aims to introduce coastal Tulu Nadu's cultural tradition to the lakhs of tourists visiting the Mysuru Dasara festival.
