Key Questions Answered
The gang members disguised themselves as railway maintenance employees and wore uniforms resembling railway staff. Using an electric cutter, they sliced through the iron sheets and plywood of SLR coaches to loot parcels while the train was running, preventing passengers and railway employees from easily suspecting them.
The case came to light following a complaint regarding the theft of artificial jewellery parcels after the SLR coach of the Ahmedabad-Darbhanga Antyodaya Express was cut open on September 19, 2026.
The RPF conducted raids in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, arresting three members of the gang, including the main mastermind Anil Patel from Varanasi, along with Mohammad Vicky and Mohammad Zahid from Munger, Bihar.
