Mann Govt & Akal Takht to Meet Oct 6 on Sacrilege Law.
- •A Coordination Committee meeting between the Punjab government and Sri Akal Takht Sahib on the sacrilege law will be held on October 6 in Chandigarh.
- •The seven-member Coordination Committee, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, will deliberate on the provisions of the 'Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026'.
- •The committee will discuss various aspects of the law and consider suggestions from Sri Akal Takht Sahib, ensuring the original spirit and sanctity of the law are respected.
- •The committee includes former Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa, Sant Baba Sewa Singh Rampur Khera, Justice (Retired) Jaspal Singh, Justice (Retired) Gurbir Singh, Retired IPS Jatinder Singh Aulakh, and Law Officer Preet Inder Pal Singh.
- •CM Mann emphasized that provisions like life imprisonment and heavy fines for sacrilege are the foundation of this law and must not be weakened.
