Key Questions Answered

During the hearing, a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant warned that if court orders are not fully complied with and there is no hope of the complainant getting his money back, the court could consider dismissing Rajpal Yadav's appeal against his sentence.

The Supreme Court gave Rajpal Yadav a final opportunity until Tuesday to comply with the court's payment orders. Previously, the court had extended his interim relief from surrendering until October 5, after he was given two weeks on September 15 to deposit Rs 2 crore.

The case stems from 2010 when Rajpal Yadav took financial assistance of about Rs 5 crore from Murli Projects Private Limited to fund his film 'Ata Pata Lapata'. The film underperformed, and after repayment disputes arose, seven cheques totaling over Rs 11 crore including interest bounced in 2013, leading to separate legal proceedings.
