Key Questions Answered

The Lanza 3D radar has a maximum instrumented range of approximately 470 kilometers and can detect targets at altitudes up to 30,480 meters. It provides 360-degree coverage, completes a scan in 10 to 12 seconds, and can identify small slow-moving drones, stealth aircraft, missiles, and other aerial threats.

Phuket Air Base is positioned near the crucial sea routes connecting the Indian Ocean and the Malacca Strait, which is one of the world's busiest strategic sea lanes. This deployment allows Thailand to strengthen regional security amid rising maritime activity and closely monitor nearby airspace and maritime areas.

Along with the Lanza 3D radar, Indra will provide its AirDef Command and Control System to integrate intelligence and surveillance data. Thailand has also allocated a budget of roughly 6 billion dollars for its defense sector in 2026, which includes purchasing Airbus C295 aircraft for tactical transport.
