CBSE Class 10 Science: Get straight 0 for this mistake, understand new rules
- •CBSE has implemented a major change in the evaluation system for the Class 10 Science paper for the 2027 board exams.
- •Answer sheets will now be checked through a Discipline-Specific Evaluation System by subject-expert teachers.
- •Writing an answer in the wrong section will result in zero marks and will be considered as Attempt Not Done.
- •The Science paper is divided into three sections namely Biology, Chemistry, and Physics which must be answered in their designated areas.

Key Questions Answered
Under CBSE's new rule, if a student mistakenly writes a physics answer in the chemistry section, the checker will cross it out and award 'Zero' marks, classifying it as 'Attempt Not Done' piuttosto than transferring credit.
Different parts of the same answer booklet are evaluated strictly by subject-expert teachers. Biology copies are checked by biology teachers, chemistry copies by chemistry teachers, and physics copies by physics specialist teachers.
The paper structure allocates 50% of questions to basic knowledge and concept clarity, 30% to theory and practical daily life applications, and 20% to competency-based analytical, evaluative, and creative questions.
