Following the financial irregularities uncovered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana at IGIMS, the Chief Nodal Officer of the scheme, Dr. Jiut Ram Kesari, was removed from his position. Additionally, the institute filed an official First Information Report (FIR) against four individuals involved in the fraudulent claims.
The scam came to light following an investigation triggered by a formal complaint from a patient. The inquiry revealed that patient records and documents were misused to file insurance claims under the scheme, sometimes without providing any medical treatment at all.
Prior to the recent fake claim scandal, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) had sought a report concerning alleged financial irregularities in the operation of the Ayushman Yojana at IGIMS. This earlier inquiry followed a reported revenue loss amounting to 13 crore 89 lakh 47 thousand rupees.
