Key Questions Answered

Due to severe erosion in Raghopur, Bhagalpur, the Ganga river swallowed more than 125 meters of the embankment. Several concrete houses and huts were eroded and washed away, causing chaos and forcing residents to flee to save their lives.

To assess the severity of the erosion, Naugachia SDO K. Parikshit and SP Vaibhaw Sharma rushed to the site during the night. They inspected the affected areas and prioritized residents' safety by having houses vacated and arranging shifts to safe locations.

The incident has sparked questions regarding the quality and monitoring of anti-erosion works funded by crores of rupees. Despite Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary conducting aerial surveys of the flood and erosion situation twice last month, a massive part of the embankment was still swallowed by the river.
