Key Questions Answered
A Rapido driver followed a female passenger all the way to the security check inside Gurugram's Ambience Mall to demand an unpaid ride fare of 186 rupees. The driver insisted on cash payment because the ride was booked using cash rather than online payment methods like Paytm, leading to a public confrontation.
Male and female security guards from Ambience Mall intervened to calm down the situation after it escalated near the security check. The guards asked the driver to stop recording the video and calm down, while the passenger complained about being filmed publicly and blamed a server issue.
The viral incident sparked widespread internet outrage and discussions regarding the safety, daily struggles, and fair payment of gig workers like cab and bike taxi drivers. Social media users highlighted that these drivers work hard under harsh conditions, and passenger payment reluctance causes them severe mental and economic loss.
