Launched in Jamnagar on World Animal Day by Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani, Champions of Care is a community animal welfare campaign uniting over 50 animal welfare organisations across India. The scheme aims to support nearly two million animals annually—including cats, dogs, and large animals—by providing long-term care, mobile rescue, veterinary services, and infrastructure development.
The endeavour brings together over 50 animal welfare organisations from across the country. Additionally, eight members of the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), a statutory advisory body mandated to promote animal welfare, participated in the opening gathering in Jamnagar.
The initiative supports diverse needs identified by participating groups, including improved drainage systems, animal housing, rescue equipment, ambulances, diagnostic and treatment tools, and facilities for lifelong care. It also provides training, capacity building, and educational programmes for children and young people, formalised through a Letter of Understanding signed with Vantara.
