According to Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, Nana Patekar was brought dead to the facility and declared dead by 5:30 AM. The medical team administered a cardiac massage for nearly 45 minutes to an hour, but he remained completely unresponsive and could not be revived.
A police case had to be registered following Nana Patekar's death because the incident was handled as a medico-legal case (MLC). Consequently, his body was transferred to the Goa Medical College to undergo a post-mortem examination.
