Clean Max's Data, AI Power Portfolio Skyrockets 10-Fold in Two Years Amid Hyperscaler Boom

- •Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions' contracted renewable power capacity for data centers and AI clients surged 10-fold in two years, reaching 2,500 MW from 250 MW.
- •The company holds a 35% market share in India's hyperscaler business, partnering with major global tech firms like Google, Meta, Apple, and Amazon.
- •Meeting the power demands of a 1 GW data center requires significantly more renewable capacity, estimated at 3 GW each of wind, solar, and storage, due to cooling and infrastructure needs and intermittent renewable generation.
- •This associated renewable infrastructure could involve approximately ’40,000 crore in capital expenditure, borne by renewable energy suppliers.
- •India is poised to benefit from global data center expansion, with hyperscalers facing challenges in other regions, making it a prime destination for investment.
Key Questions Answered
Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions saw its contracted renewable power capacity linked to data centers and artificial intelligence clients increase 10-fold, rising from 250 MW in April 2024 to 2,500 MW currently out of its total 6,000 MW portfolio. Managing Director Kuldeep Jain expects this rapid growth momentum to continue as India's data center and AI infrastructure build-up is still in its early stages.
Clean Max holds approximately a 35% market share of the hyperscaler business in India, maintaining major relationships with global technology leaders such as Google, Meta, Apple, and Amazon. Out of its 2.5 GW contracted with data and AI clients, roughly 1.7 GW is contracted directly with hyperscalers.
A 1 GW data center's IT load requires additional power for cooling and campus infrastructure, totaling roughly 1.4 to 1.5 GW. Because solar and wind sources do not operate at 100% capacity utilisation, meeting this overall demand requires substantially more renewable infrastructure, estimated at around 3 GW of wind, 3 GW of solar, and 3 GW of storage.
