Key Questions Answered

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands occupy a strategically important location between the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea, close to the western approaches to the Malacca Strait. This geography allows them to strengthen shipping connectivity, logistics infrastructure, and regional economic cooperation while serving as a strategic asset for maritime security and trade resilience.

The first edition of the Andaman Dialogues is scheduled for March 12–14, 2027, at Swaraj Dweep Island. The proposed regional platform aims to bring together governments, maritime agencies, businesses, financial institutions, and strategic experts to discuss maritime resilience and connectivity.

Experts note that the islands have potential to develop into a transshipment and logistics hub to help shipping companies consolidate cargo and optimize routes. Additional opportunities include shipbuilding, vessel repairs, and emergency maintenance services for maritime operators close to major shipping routes.
