Two persons, including a teenager, were killed in separate road accidents involving trucks in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharswan district on Thursday. In the first incident, a student was killed when a truck rammed into his scooter from behind, while the second incident involved a 20-year-old youth being crushed to death under the wheels of a truck while returning home on his motorcycle.

Locals were angered by the second incident and briefly blocked the road, but they withdrew the blockade after about 30 minutes following police assurances that necessary action would be taken. Traffic during the first incident was also temporarily disrupted for about an hour before police cleared the vehicles.

The police impounded the damaged scooter and the truck from the first accident site, sent both bodies to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations, and launched investigations since the drivers fled both scenes. Authorities were also examining CCTV camera footage from the second location to identify the fleeing vehicle.
