A 19-year-old man named J Muthusamy was arrested within an hour of a complaint alleging he sexually abused a 16-year-old girl at a secluded agricultural field near Old Nallur after befriending her on Instagram.
The victim and the accused had befriended each other through Instagram and remained in contact via phone calls for about a month before the incident occurred.
Police stated that the case involving the social media friend was unrelated to an unverified allegation of child sexual abuse at a government school in Kandigai village, noting no material had emerged to establish that incident.
